With both my office and boss' holiday parties falling on the same weekend, our schedules were jam-packed and our escape to Santa Barbara on Saturday couldn't have fallen at a better time.
We headed out late Saturday am and got there just in time for lunch at one of our favorite restaurants on State Street, Tupelo Junction.
|Our view on the drive... not too shabby!|
After a leisurely lunch, we walked around town and finished up our Christmas shopping, then went back to our hotel, (which is one of my faves btw) to do nothing at all but RELAX!! It was heavenly. Don't get me wrong, I love my little guy but boy is he a lot of work, especially these days when he's anxious to explore and get into anything and everything. Watching a TV show and letting our eyes close for a little afternoon siesta was something we hadn't done in a long, long time so it was much appreciated.
After a quick work out and evening spa on the rooftop, we headed down to the bar for a pre-dinner cocktail, then headed over to elements, which was thankfully just as delicious as we remembered it being when we went with my parents a few years ago. We stopped in for a nightcap and dessert at the most festive bar in the world (you can't help but smile when you look at all of the lights) and then headed back to the hotel so we could tuck in early and take full advantage of our uninterrupted sleep.
|If Santa had a favorite bar, this would be it...|
We woke up late on Sunday morning and went for a long walk to the beach. For those of you who aren't aware, Santa Barbara is unfortunately quite a favorite for the homeless (although, I can't say I blame them...). Seems some of them have gotten quite creative and beg for money by leaving these unique imprints in the sand, which are a form of art in themselves. My favorite is the second one down... so cute, but so sad at the same time :(
We then stopped for brunch at Jeannines and after the most delicious lobster eggs benedict and challah french toast I've ever had, we headed back to LA to see the baby boss (who reminded us all afternoon how ticked off he was that he wasn't able to accompany us on our getaway. Or maybe he just missed Grandma!).
It was a really, really great weekend :)
Happy Anniversary Bigou!
