Labor Day at Angel's Camp

We've started making it an annual tradition to visit GG and Pops (Hayzey's greats) in Angel's Camp over Labor Day weekend. The boy loves it up there and I think they love having us (I hope, at least!).

We were a little concerned last week that we wouldn't be able to go on our trip due to those terrible fires that have been happening in Yosemite but after daily air quality reports from GG, we decided that it would be fine and loaded up the car Friday morning for the 7 hour drive.

Hayes was an absolute peach for both the car ride there and back (it helps that he's allowed to suck on his beloved binks the whole time while zoning out to cartoons on the ipad but hey, whatever works!) and he really enjoyed stopping at Bravo Farms to play in the tree house and sample some cheese. And mama enjoyed her pregnancy pardon as Daddy was on duty chasing him up and down the four stories of said tree house!

We had a relaxing weekend with the old folks, hanging around their house, visiting Murphys, going to the park, swimming in the pool and taking a trip to old town Columbia where we took a stage coach ride and got held up by a robber yielding a shotgun (Hayes was a little apprehensive at the time, but will happily reenact the scene now where the man's "water gun" goes "psh psh psh"!).

Hayes was reluctant to leave when the weekend was over, but we promised we would be back soon (we're optimistically hoping that we'll be able to attend the Thanksgiving festivities up there this year but are playing it by ear since Deuce is scheduled to arrive a mere two weeks before - are we crazy?).

Here are some pics of the weekend.

We're wrapping up our last week of "summer vacation" around here as school starts next week. It's still in the high 80s but Mama is ready for Fall. And after celebrating the end of summer with our final Summer Saturday this weekend (a college football themed affair), I'll be ready to welcome pumpkin spice lattes, cozy sweaters and pots of soup simmering on the stove ;-)
